Carmel Hospital, Ashokapuram is a Charitable Institution of Public nature rendering medical services, solely for philanthropic purpose, irrespective of caste, colour and creed. The hospital started in the year 1965 at Thaikattukkara as a small clinic by the sisters of Congregation of Mother of Carmel (CMC) of their Vimala Province Ernakulam. The hospital shifted to Ashokapuram on side of Aluva-Munnar Road just 2.5km from Aluva town in the year 1968 with 6 bed capacity. the hospital is administrated by nuns who have relinquished worldly aspirations and wholly devoted to charitable causes ensured to bring relief and secure to those who are desperately in need of them Now the hospital is a 200 bedded Multy-Speciality Hospital having all departments such as Gynaecology, Surgery, Cardiology, Ortho, ENT, Urology, Opthalmology, Paediatrics and Dermatology. around of clock casualty department is functioning in Carmel. We are having four full fledge operation theaters and Laboratory with Blood Bank. The hospital renders free treatment in all deserving cases and in certain cases what the poor patients can afford to pay to meet the cast of the medicines etc. Collections at a very moderate rate is made from rich patients alone, has to make the hospital run to render medical services to the needy
