In ayurveda the word “Panchgavya” holds a very important place. Ancient scriptures such as, charak sanhita, kashyap sanhita, sushrut sanhita, and yog ratnakar granth hail about glory of the Panchgavya. Due to its bunches of health benefits it is often called as a divine elixir .

What is “Panchgavya”?
“Panchgavya” is a mix of cow’s five essences in equal amount.

  • cow’s dung(gomaya),
  • cow’s urine(gomutra),
  • cow’s milk,
  • cow’s curd (godadhi)
  • Ghee(gogrihta).

A regural intake of panchgavya not only heals one’s body but also provides positivity, longevity, and magnetic charisma. It acts as enhancer of physical –mental health.

How to prepare “Panchgavya”?

  • cow’s dung- ½ part
  • cow’s urine- 1 part
  • cow’s ghee- 1 part
  • cow’s curd- 2 part
  • cow’s milk- 3 part

This mixture has specific and unique healing property. Each of it individually is also used to treat chronic diseases.

Overview of benefits of each component of Panchgavya for contemporary diseases:

• Beneficial effect of Gomutra:
Latest research says that gomutra has capacity to fight a cancer. It had anti cancerous, antimicrobial, germicidal property due to which it is used in athlete’s food, renal disorder, cardiovascular disease, psoriasis, sebaceous cyst, oedema, obesity, hepatitis, diabetes, urinary disorder and many others.

• Beneficial effect of cow’s dung:
Cow dung is bitter in nature due to which it is used in respiratory ailments, acne, pimple, joint pain, neck pain, sciatica and many other disoder.
It is also used in form of soap in skin allergy, acne, ringworm, dandruff.
Its tooth powder is also used for tooth cavity- mouth ulcer.

• Beneficial effect of cow’s milk
It nourishes the each and every tissue of the body.
Act as aphrodisiac,
Used in respiratory diseases and lung ailment
Beneficial in liver ailments,
It is one of the most important foods to promote Ojas (the force that maintains life).

• Beneficial effect of curd
It is described as a tonic and is credited with the properties that prevent premature aging. Curd also brings relief to patients of diarrhea and dysentery and is recommended in chronic specific and non-specific colitis.
Also used in GIT disordered such as diarrhoea, dysentery, loose motion many others.
Beneficial in disease of duodenum.

• Beneficial effect of griht
Ghee can provide the necessary burst of energy to the athletes or other people who needs active, high-energy lifestyles.
It also decrease inflammation, particularly in the gastrointestinal tract, and is now a used in ulcerative colitis.
It protects the eyes health due vitamin A present in it in a good amount.
Ghee can boost up your immune system and add many other health benefits to your body.

Panchgavya for plants
Panchgavya is used as a highly effective liquid organic manure to safeguard plants and soil micro-organisms used worldwide.
 It increases plant production.
 It is more profitable than fertilizer and chemical spray
 It enhances growth and induces quick flowering.
 It increases the yield and quality of the products.

Method to prepare Cow Panchgavya
To prepare a Panchgavya as a manure you need a
 wide mouthed mud vessel,
 Cow dung slurry- 5 litre,
 Cow’s urine-3 litre,
 Cow’s milk-2 litre,
 Cow’s curd- 2 litre,
 Cow’s ghee -1 litre,

Take this ingredient in mud vessel and mix them well and cover the mouth of the vessel with a clean cloth for fermentation. Keep this vessel in a shady place for 10-15 days and mix it well every day. Before spraying on plants, 100 litres of water is to be mix in three litres of Panchgavya.
Compared to other chemical fertilisers Panchgavya is less expensive and more ecofriendly with no side effects
