It is better to get a fundamental understanding of infertility, and it basically refers to the biological inability of an individual to contribute his/her share towards conceiving a baby.  Ayurveda is actually a time-tested warehouse of medical wisdom, and this system does offer treatment for couples, who have difficulty in creating a baby, regardless of whether the problem lies with her or him or even in both partners. Causes of Infertility:

Before starting any infertility treatment, the doctor will first try to understand the actual cause of the problem as different factors can contribute towards infertility in a man and a lady.

  • When it comes to female infertility, it can be caused because of structural issues like polyps or uterine fibroids, a defect in the cervical canal and also a blockage in the fallopian tubes.

  • Apart from these reasons in women, hormonal imbalance leading to problems with ovulation can also lead to infertility.

Before beginning the infertility treatment process, the ayurvedic doctor will also analyse if any problems are present with the male partner.

  • The causes in the case of men include anatomical, hormonal, psychological or lifestyle related issues leading to problems in semen production are stated to be the factors.

  • From the perspective of infertility treatment Ayurveda, shukra dhatu can be affected by different mental, physical and even it can be affected due to some serious illnesses.

Treatment in Ayurveda:

When it comes to infertility treatment in Ayurveda, swedanam is a technique used in both men and women. This is done with a view to helping them get rid of unwanted toxins from the body by way of sweating. Ayurveda believes that accumulation of toxins in the body, which is otherwise called as Ama is one of the important factors contributing towards infertility both in men and women. Vamanam is a treatment, which is yet another cleansing method and in this method vomiting is induced to help the body get rid of undigested foods. Kapikacchu or ashwagandha churna is prescribed for infertility treatment for males as both these remedies are known to increase sperm count and also the quality and quantity of sperm. Phala Grita is a remedy prescribed for women to treat functional problems, but this remedy does not cure structural issues. To clear any form of blockages in the body, triphala churna is prescribed for women.
