Eligibility for Mediclaim

Any one, not below 5 or not above 75 years of age can be the beneficiary of the mediclaim. Nonetheless, any child above 3 months and up to 5 years of age can also be the beneficiary along with their guardian. Even many public and private limited companies extend this mediclaim policy as their extra-molar benefits to their employees. The condition is the strength of the employees must be at least 50.

• The beneficiary, if hospitalized, will get the reimbursement for the medical test, doctors’ visit, anesthesia, surgery etc.
• Income tax benefits under Sec 80 D is available under mediclaim policy
• If the policy covers the whole family, a 10% discount is the additional benefitr in the mediclaim policy
Coverage under mediclaim policies:-

Mediclaim covers reimbursements of actual charges of hospitalization, which may start with 15000 to 5 lakhs, or as the case may be, depending on the sum insured under the policy. The coverage may also take care of the expenses being incurred while the treatments are taken at home. The claim of reimbursement may be as minimum 3000 to 50,000 in this case, under the norms of United India Insurance. If you are not availing any of the mediclaim claims continuously for four years, you can avail a free medical health checkup. A maternity claim up to 50,000 can also be availed, depending on the policy.

As a normal practice, insurance companies do not entertain chronic arthritis, tonsils, gastric and asthma. Any disease, which was detected before purchasing mediclaim policy, will not be entitled for mediclaim reimbursement. Besides this, any injury or disease, occurring within 30 days of the policy inception, generally will also not be entitled for the reimbursement. Other than this, natural treatment also is not covered in the mediclaim policy. Normally, mediclaim policy does not cover war patients.
