ESRF (End Stage Renal Failure) is the most debilitating and serious urinary tract and kidney disease. Hence it is better to know the ‘ins & outs’ of the urinary incontinence.

Urinary system disorders

Too frequent urination that may even turn towards urine leakage is known as ‘urinary incontinence’. Millions of people of all ages and both sexes are the victims of this problem. Many feel shy to disclose the fact, neither to their closest not even to the doctor. It is always advisable that you must not shy about your incontinence, at least to your doctor. The term ‘incontinence’ is also known as ‘overactive bladder’. The reasons for this body condition are as follows:

Parkinson disease or multiple sclerosis, one of the neurological diseases

 Medicinal side effects, specially water pills or diuretics and caffeine-drugs

 Causes of bladder irritation or Urinary tract infection

Prostate cancer or Inflammation of the prostate in men

Abnormalities or Tumours in the bladder or bladder cancer

 Recent delivery or Pregnancy

Nerve damage due to injury, surgery, or disease (such as diabetes)

 Many other cases are also the causes but still not known in the medical science

Kidney stones

Normally kidney stones are small, solid masses, which are formed minerals or salts, normally available in urine in kidney, become solid crystals. These crystals are normally so small that they cannot be noticed as they pass out of our body harmlessly. But they become gradually larger and turn into a large stone.

In this stage they begin to move out of bladder and inch towards ureter. Ureter is the tube that passes urine from kidney to bladder. These stones can become stuck at any point of position and cause pain at the initial stage. If it is not diagnosed in the early stage, it can lead to infection; further worsening will lead to kidney damage.

Sizes / shapes / number of kidney stones

Sizes of kidney stone may be as small as small as a grain of sand and as big as a golf ball. The shapes of this unwanted body residues may be both very smooth and very jagged edges. Some patient may have a single stone, but some may have multiple in number.

Kidney stones & their types

Several types of kidney stones are there. The substances that form these stones are the causes of these sizes and shapes. The different types of kidney stones are:

Uric acid stones: Roughly speaking, 10 per cent of all the kidney stones are uric acid stones. The reason is excess amount of uric acid’s presence in the blood.

Cystine stone:  According to some rough estimation, 2 per cent of all kidney stones come under this cysteine categoryThe reasons for this body condition are as follows:

Struvite stone: Roughly speaking, 5 per cent of all the kidney stone patients come under this category. Struvite stones are composed of waste product ammonia, mineral magnesium and tend to affect those who have repeated problems of urinary tract infections.

Calcium stones:  Speaking with evidence, 80 to 83 per cent of the kidney stone patients suffer from this type of body condition. The composition of this calcium stones is calcium gets mixed with either oxalate or with phosphate. If you blood is circulating excess level of calcium, you may become the victim of this problem.

Kidney stones & their symptoms

A patient with any kind of these kidney stone may have following symptoms:

->- Blood in urine

->- Consistent pain in the side or in the back

->- A burning sensation when urinating

->- Cloudy urine or stingy odour in the urine

->- vomiting

->- Fever or chills
