Around 40 years ago, cervical cancer was the major cause of cancer deaths among women. But, now with the advancement of medical field, reports state that this cancer can be treated completely if detected early. To detect it early, women should be aware of certain signs, which when experienced should talk to their gyno. Here are the warning signs women should watch:
Leg pain: Some women at the early stage of this cancer might experience pain and swelling in the legs. The reason is that when cervix swells, it might pave way to obstruction of blood flow, thereby leading to swelling of legs leading to pain and sore feeling.
Vaginal discharge: Most of the women experience little amount of colorless and odorless vaginal discharges in their lifetime. This is something normal, but if the discharge quantity increases or when there is a foul smell associated with the discharge or the discharge has some irregular appearance, it is considered to be a symptom of inception of cervical cancer. So, it is better to seek medical help in this case.
Abnormal bleeding: When a woman experiences vaginal bleeding at abnormal times, it may be a sign of cervical cancer. If she experiences this symptom constantly, it is advisable to seek medical help. Particularly, if the bleeding occurs after sexual intercourse in between periods, medical help should be sought.
Discomfort in urination: Having a close watch at the pattern of urination can also help in revealing the onset of cervical cancer in many ways. The most important thing to notice is whether she experiences some pain or discomfort when urinating. When there is a tight or stinging sensation while urinating, it can be an indication of some serious issues.
Irregular urination: Manifestation of urinating habits can also be a sign of cervical cancer. When she loses control of bladder and when there is irregularity in the urinating patterns and more importantly when there is blood in the urine, it is better to seek immediate medical help.
Uncomfortable intercourse: Sensing pain during intercourse is also an early sign of cervical cancer. However, this can be caused not only by cervical cancer and can be caused due to many other reasons, it is better not to ignore.
Pelvic pain: As most of the women know, pelvic pain is the part of their menstrual cycle; most of them do not worry too much about this pain. But, when the pain is unbearable and consistent, women should notice that their body is trying to tell something to them and so it is better to take a walk to the gyno.
Back pain: Back pain is experienced by many women these days and even though, all back pains cannot be stated as the symptom of cervical cancer, if the back pain is associated with any other signs mentioned above, it should be given a serious consideration when talking to the gyno.
