What Are The Causes For Low Blood Pressure?

Blood pressure denotes the force exerted by blood on the blood vessels during the process of circulation. It happens when the heart tries to pump the blood into the arteries for taking it to the other parts of the body. The rate at which the heart pumps the blood into the arteries and the response of the arteries is referred to as blood pressure, there are so many causes for low blood pressure.

Low and high blood pressure:

Some people suffer a high blood pressure, which is a condition, whereby the force of blood pumping against the arteries will be too high, and it may eventually lead to serious health issues. On the other hand, some patients experience the exactly opposite thing, wherein the pumping against the arteries will be too low, and this is one of the causes for low blood pressure.

Inflammation of internal organs in the body can lead to low BP. For instance, a condition called as acute pancreatitis, which affects the abdominal glands can leave the blood vessels to get into the inflamed abdominal cavity and tissues, thereby bringing the volume of blood in the body.

  • Bleeding:

Severe or moderate bleeding can also lead to this issue. When there is excessive bleeding in the body due to one reason or another in the body, the supply of blood will reduce, thereby leading to low BP and even, it can sometimes lead to death as well. Some of the conditions, where bleeding can lead to hypotension includes, gastrointestinal abnormalities, ruptured an aortic aneurysm and surgical complications.

  • Dehydration:

This is a condition, where the body loses more of water than the actual consumption. This will eventually lead to hypotension in some people.

  • Medication:

Some medications come with low BP as the side-effect. Some of the medicines that come under this category are High BP medicines, medicines prescribed for heart problems, anti-depressants, and prostate gland problems.

  • Neurological issues:

Any disease that affects the nerves is referred to as a neurological disease. Health issues falling under this category can bring down the blood pressure level below normal.

  • Hormonal disorders:

Some diseases that can bring ill-effects on the hormones in the body causes for low blood pressure. For instance, when it comes to patients with Addison’s disease, there are chances of low BP as this disease can cause damage to the adrenal glands, which are responsible for balancing the salt and water level in the body.

Other conditions like pregnancy, heart issues, nutritional deficiency, allergic reactions and septic shock can also lead to low BP.
