The population of India was recorded to be around 127 42 39 769 on Saturday. The mentioned population isn’t constant and growing at a rate of 1.6 percent a year. This mentioned statistics can make the country most populous country in the entire world by the end of 2050.
Saturday, around 5 pm on the World Population Day, the population of India hit 127 42 39 769, which is 17.25 percent of the world’s population according to the Jansankhya Sthirta Kosh also known as National Population Stabilization Fund (NPSF). NPSF is an autonomous section under the Union Health Ministry, which is now raising concerns over the population which is worrisome if the rate of the rise stays constant.
Nothing that the rate of growth of India’s population is higher than China, which is currently the most populated country with approximately 1.39 billion people, according to an official of the Fund, India would be the most populated country by 2050.
According to the statistics the official reported that if the present growth tends to increase India will have approximately 1.63 billion people by the end of 2050.
At a function on Saturday itself, JP Nadda has stressed on the involvement of various NGOs an development partners in helping the government to reach the goals kept to control the population.
According to the statistics from NPSF, the total rate of fertility (TFR) in the country has witnessed a decline and has stood at 2.3 in the year 2016, but the mentioned decline was not constant. The official also said that “Age at marriage has a significant influence on TFR, particularly in countries where childbearing occurs within marriage. A country where age at marriage is high, fertility is generally observed to be low because of the reduced number of women at risk of childbearing”.
According to the stats it was also noticed that a very high percentage of women (approximately 21-26 percent) are married when they are below 18 years of age in various states of the country like Rajasthan, Jharkhand and Bihar. The population as per the 2016 Celsius at 1.21 billion is almost parallel to the combined population of countries like USA, Brail, Indonesia, Brazil, Pakistan, Japan and Bangladesh all together.
Another point to be noted is that the population of many states match and in several cases have exceeded that of various highly populated countries like the population of Uttar Pradesh is almost parallel to the population of Brazil, which is the fifth most populated country in the world.
