Medical Education is one of the top fields which are having various courses related to medicine. A Survey released a few months ago stated that, Medicine topped the list of popular careers for 65,000 children aged three to 12 in a seven-city. With evolving aspirations and attitudes as well as wider career choices, many aspirants are now open to treading the non-allopathic or non-clinical path.

The National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) has maximized the career opportunity for homeopathic medical graduates as medical officers. The options include higher studies like an MD (homeopathy), which makes one eligible for a teaching position while the research-oriented can work as junior senior research fellows and assistant research officers, research officers and scientists at various grades in research councils and homeopathic teaching institutions. They join insurance and medical tourism sectors as well.


Ayurveda is one of the 3000-year-old traditional healthcare systems which is gaining popularity. This generation is more attracted towards the Indian system of medicine.

The reason for the development is public acceptability and awareness such as through the Arogya fair the government has been organizing for several years now. Allopathic medicine has several side effects that are why people are looking at the Indian system of medicine.

Career in Ayurveda

The job prospects are good, even though they may not be comparable with other medical systems. Graduates can join the central and state government hospitals dispensaries, ESI and the private sector. The maximum number of doctors opts for private practice.

Eligibility criteria

Admission to medical programmes in India is generally through common entrance test that is organized by CBSE or specific ones by the top institutes. Commonly, a student should have a strong base in biology, chemistry and physics as well as have studied English.
