When the body grows faster than the skin can keep up with, the elastic fibers under the skin surface rupture and this causes stretch marks. Stretch Marks appear as red, purple or pink linear streaks on the abdomen, buttocks, breasts, thighs and upper arms.

Causes of Stretch Marks:

Stretch marks can appear in the skin for many reasons as follows:

· Many hormonal changes during pregnancy causes stretch marks.

· Weight gain during puberty is caused by hormonal changes and these results in stretch marks both in girls and boys.

· Weight gain in obesity also results in stretch marks.

· Woman whose mother has stretch marks is more likely to get stretch marks during pregnancy.

· Consumption of oral or systemic, creams and lotions can cause stretch marks.

Home Remedies for stretch marks:


There are so many home remedies using safe components which can help these marks becoming lightened faster.

1. Aloe Vera

· The gel from aloe vera plant helps in lightning the stretch marks by use on regular basis on the affected areas of the skin.

· Cut and remove gel from aloe vera leaf and apply to the stretch marks and wash off after some time.

· Mix fresh aloe vera gel with vitamin E and apply on affected area will also help in lightning the stretch marks.

2. Olive Oil:

· Olive oil consists of antioxidants which help in lightening the stretch marks.

· Apply olive oil on the stretch marks and massage that area and leave it for whole night and wash in the morning.

· Mix oil with sugar and lemon juice and put it on the stretch marks for some time and wash it.

3. Almond Oil:

· Almond oil is a good source of vitamin E and helps lightning the stretch marks.

· Almond oil can also be used in combination with other oils for lightening stretch marks.

· Everyday massage with plain almond oil which helps in reducing the stretch marks.

4. Egg Whites:


· It consists of Vitamin A and protein, which help reduce the appearance of stretch marks.

· Separate egg whites from yolk and apply it on the stretch marks.

· Combination of egg whites, lemon juice & yougurt will helps in lightning the stretch marks.

5. Cocoa Butter:

· Cocoa Butter when mixed with some other components can make brilliant homemade creams to lighten stretch marks.

· By mixing a few drops of almond oil with cocoa butter and apply on the stretch mark helps in lightning the stretch marks.

Food to be taken:

· Eat foods such as Spinach and other leafy greens, citrus fruits, papaya, nuts like almonds, olive oil and wheat. All these are high in Vitamins E and C that helps in skin tissue growth.

· Eat protein-rich foods such as eggs, beans, legumes, pumpkin seeds, peanuts, almonds and yogurt.

· Flax seeds are good for collagen repair. Eat a spoonful after meals or add the seeds into your salads or cereal.

Exercise:

· Good workout daily not only helps in reducing the weight but improves skin health as well.
