Best Home Remedies For Dandruff

Dandruff, which is medically referred to as seborrheic dermatitis is a common scalp problem. It can occur because of fungus and bacterial growth in the scalp, irritated oily skin, dry skin and inflammatory skin conditions and related issues. It leads to excessive formation of dry skin flakes along with itchiness in the scalp. Experts state that this issue can be controlled by following a healthy hair care regimen and some simple remedies can also be tried at home. Even though, it is true that home remedies that are given below will take longer time to show results, they can provide permanent solution:

Indian lilac:

This is nothing, but the popular neem herb and it is known for its antibacterial and antifungal properties. In addition to providing relief to this issue, it can cure a wide range of hair problems like hair fall, itchy scalp and scalp acne as well. All that is to be done to get the right relief with this herb is that you will have to boil a handful of neem leaves in four cups of water and this solution should be cooled and strained. This water can be used for rinsing the hair for two or three times a week.

Coconut oil:

Because of its antifungal properties, coconut oil can help in getting relief from dandruff.  It can also be effective in providing the right kind of moisture to the scalp and can relieve itching as well. A certain quantity of coconut oil should be taken and half of this measurement of lemon extract should be mixed with the oil. This combination should be applied in the scalp and gentle massaging should be done for a few minutes. Hair should be washed after 20 minutes and this remedy can also be followed for two to three times a week.

Apple cider vinegar:

This can also provide excellent remedy as it can effectively bring about a balance in the pH level in the scalp. This in turn will affect the growth of yeast and it can also work as a natural clarifier for hair and can provide relief from hair follicles and clogged pores. Two spoons of apple cider vinegar should be taken and an equal amount of water along with 15-20 drops of tea tree oil should be added to this mixture. It should be applied to the hair and should be rinsed after few minutes. This natural home remedy can also be used for two or three times a week.

Baking soda:

As it is a mild exfoliant, baking soda can absorb excess oil content from the scalp and can help in removal of dead skin cells. Even, it can restrict the growth of fungus by balancing the pH level in the scalp. Just wet your hair and apply a handful of baking soda to your scalp. After a couple of minutes, hair should be rinsed with warm water. This solution can also be repeated once or twice a week for a few weeks to get the relief.
