Health risks of electric heaters

Winter has come and as temperatures is going down day by day, a constant need for keeping ourselves warm get larger. Electric room heaters also help in warming the room and making us feel cosy but these are also coming with side effects that cause many illnesses.

Side effects of room heaters or electric heaters:

These heaters warm the air inside the house, while reducing the moisture content of the air, making it dry also.

Breathing in dry air causes to respiratory disorders like sinusitis, asthma, bronchitis and also nosebleeds due to dried membranes.

It makes us more prone to infections as the first line of defence, the mucus membrane, is damaged.

Lacking moisture in the air is also harmful to our skin already dry skin is a common problem during winter, which also causes itchiness and rough skin.

Dry air also dries out mucus membranes which are moist, result of that catching all dust and infection-causing agents, ruling to their inflammation.

Staying in the room with heaters can worse this condition as dry air evaporates moisture from the skin.

Lacking moisture in the air has also shown to evaporate tears from the eyes, making it difficult to maintain the fine balance required for moist and healthy eyes.

How to maintain moisture levels:

Although, In the winter season it very common to use room heaters in every house still we should take some precaution for our health as we know the side effects using electric heaters in room. Completely banning on this is not possible but some precautions we can do.

How to maintain moisture in homes while using heaters:

· We can use a humidifier or vaporizer which increases the moisture inside our house.

· Keep a bowls filled with water at various places in our house.

· We can use natural moisturisers to keep our skin hydrated and healthy.

· Always keep warm or hot fluids like soups or teas to keep nasal passages, airways and throats moist.
