Here's how to Ensure your Home isn't a Hot-bed of Germ Evolution

Harmful microorganisms can breed anywhere and sometimes you will not even realise it. From the bus, you travel in, on your palms, the soles of the shoes, your car and other similar places these germs can be present anywhere. Although most of these bacteria and viruses and other similar germs are usually harmless but in some cases, these bacteria can be the cause of irritating allergies, dreadful tummy bugs and even irritation in the skin. Besides being present in the areas you expect the most for example toilet bowls, kitchen bins or the floor, these harmful microorganisms can also be present in the most unexpected places. And it is not merely the germs that can be harmful but also mould spores, dirt house mites and other chemicals can also be very harmful. Mentioned below is the list of places in a house that might be infested with germs and ways on how to keep it clean.

Things  for Protecting from Bacteria and Viruses:

Computer Keyboard:

If you spend a lot of time sitting in front of the computer, typing or scrolling, you might also want to think about the times when you went to the washroom, ate a sandwich or sneezed. There are so many diseases caused by harmful microorganisms as you are continuously touching the keyboard or the mouse and hence spreading dead skin, oil from the skin, crumbs and harmful microorganisms in case you forgot to wash your hands properly. This, in turn, can be accounted for the growth of bacteria which can lead to several other illnesses.

The basic step to keep it clean is to wash hands regularly. It may sound obvious but is the simplest way to keep the surroundings clean and yet people tend to forget that. And you are worried and conscious about the germs present on the keyboard, use a cover. These covers will successfully protect areas which are difficult to clean from various spills and dirt. The cover can be easily removed and cleaned.

Mobile Phones:

We always carry our cell phones whenever we leave the house or even when inside the house, but we rarely clean or pay attention to the cleanliness of these cell phones. The gadget in your hand is overloaded with dozens of harmful microorganisms which are more that the germs present on the toilet seat. As per several types of research there is a twenty percent possibility that E.coil are being harboured from your cell phones which can be accounted for an upset tummy. Even if it is not infested with E.coil, there is a ninety percent chance that cell phone is carrying other kinds of germs including flu, bug or MRSA.

Clean your cell phone with proper disinfectant and try to wipe it at least once in a month.

Bathroom Towels:

These are one of the worst culprits when it comes to cultivating germs in your houses. As per a recent research from the University of Arizona, the moist and damp, bathroom towels, especially the ones which are warm and are usually kept on heated towel rail after use, are adequate for harmful microorganisms to sustain and breed.

It is very important to remember that towels should not be shared, irrespective of anyone in the family. Towels can transfer various infections like a skin infection and hence should be strictly used personally. It is also important to clean your towels at around 60-degree temperature once in a week to keep it clean and germ-free because according to various researchers germs can breed easily in cold water.


If you are feeling bunged up or suffering from an immediate bought of asthma or a strong cough, it is might possible that you are allergic to the mould spores in your home.

Try to ventilate the surroundings by keeping the windows opens, which will also replace the stale air from the fresh one. Washing the curtains in the washroom is also important to prevent mildew and mould. Also remember to clean and wipe around windows to stop the bacteria from growing at such places.

Dish Clothes:

Cleaning up scourers, brushes or dish clothes can be the host of dangerous, harmful microorganisms which cause sicknesses such as E.coil, salmonella, flu virus and MRSA. The cloths used for kitchen purposes are usually the dirtiest ones in the house.

Kitchen cloths which are often used for cleaning and other purposes should be cleaned and washed regularly above normal temperature. Try and clean the sponges and cloths in the washing machine and use a pop scrubbing brush if you are using dishwasher.

yes,sharing cigerette,drinking cups,common spoons etc can also lead to syphilis, Generally whenever the fluid of a person who has syphilis is shared,the infection can occur, you should also consult with good Gynecologist in Thiruvarur
