Fertility Issues In Women

Reports state that approximately one-third of infertile couples have problem with the lady partner and different factors can contribute towards fertility issues in women. The causes can range from age-related hormonal changes to a history of STDs. The relieving news for women with problem in getting pregnant is that they can eventually become moms, but they need medical help for the same. In some cases, even treatment becomes unnecessary as many infertile couples become parents successfully.

Risk factors:

Experts state that when it comes to fertility in women, age is an important factor to consider. Once a lady reaches her mid 30s, it will be somewhat difficult for her to conceive. The reason is that the quality of eggs will eventually reduce after 32 years. When this is the case of those in their mid 30s, it is needless to say about those in their 40s and even they are known to be at the greater risk of delivering babies with Down Syndrome, even when they conceive at this age. Here are some of the lifestyle factors that can leave women at the risk of infertility:

• High caffeine intake like consuming more than 6 cups of coffee a day

• Being significantly underweight or overweight

• Those with history of sexually transmitted infections.

How about ovulation problems?

When analyzing the primary cause behind infertility in women, ovulation issues are stated to be one among the many reasons. This condition is referred to as anovulation. According to a report submitted by Mayo Clinic, it is stated that about 25% of infertility in female is caused because of issues with the process of ovulation. When ovulation does not happen, there will not be any eggs for fertilization. This means that pregnancy will not occur and ovulation issues can be caused due to a number of reasons like those mentioned below:

Abnormal hormone levels:

Hormonal problems can get into the ovulation process in female and this might cause problems in the eggs from getting matured and in some women, they might not be released from the ovary. When it comes to ovulation, the combination of hormones called as FSH and LH hormones are responsible for the same. If these hormones are not at their optimal levels, there will be irregularity in the process of ovulation. Things that can affect these hormones are:

• Age

• Excessive stress

• Certain health issues

• Excess weight gain/loss

The Polycystic Ovary Syndrome is an issue that leads to overproduction of androgen hormone. These are male hormones like testosterone. Some of the symptoms associated with this issue are:

• Acne

• Excessive unwanted hair growth

• Weight gain

• Menstrual issues

Primary ovarian insufficiency:

Primary ovarian insufficiency is when the ovaries in a lady stops working properly because of her age. They will stop producing normal amounts of hormones and it might lead to entire stoppage of the ovulation process. This condition is referred to as premature ovarian failure. This can be caused due to:

• Autoimmune disease

• Exposure to toxins like radiation or chemotherapy

• Chromosomal issues
