Urinary Incontinence in Women - Some Facts To Know

Urinary incontinence is a condition that refers to unconditional loss of urine and it generally occurs in women as compared to men. Overflow incontinence: In this case, there will be unexpected leakage of urine due to fullness of bladder

Mixed: In this type, the patients will experience both stress and urge incontinence

Transient incontinence: Leakage that happens temporarily due to situation like taking some medications, cough and cold and this will go away once the situation is over.

Diagnosis:

Diagnosis of this condition generally involves a physical examination, an ultrasound scan, urodynamic testing and other tests inclusive of bladder stress test, urinalysis and cystoscopy.

Treatment:

As mentioned earlier, there are different treatment options available for women facing this condition. There are behavioral treatments like bladder training and women with this condition are also recommended to try out Kegel exercises as well, which is known to provide excellent remedy. Other options include catheterization and even surgical procedures are available. Researchers are being conducted to find new and better treatments for this condition in women.
