Diet For Reducing Estrogen Level In Men

Most of us think that estrogen is a hormone that is associated only with women. But, the fact is that this hormone is produced both by men and women. To ensure their health, it is important that all humans must have a particular level of different hormones. When the estrogen production increases in men, it will lead to some ill effects to their health.

What happens when healthy hormonal level is affected?

When estrogen hormone production increases and when the testosterone level becomes unbalanced, men will face a condition called as gynecomastia, wherein their breasts enlarge. Not only changes in breasts, but fertility issues and erectile dysfunction may also be caused due to increase in estrogen production in men. Generally, it is recommended that when there are these changes in their body, men should get their estrogen level tested and should appropriate prescription from the doctor to deal with this issue. However, before seeking medical help, men can try out some natural remedies to bring down the estrogen production. This means that they can make some diet changes to achieve the results before taking any medications for the increase in the production of estrogen hormone. Here are certain things they can do to achieve the same:

Increasing fiber intake can help:

As most of us know, fiber can help in constipation and easy excretion. Fiber rich foods like leafy vegetables can bind the bile acids and can help in flushing out estrogen from the body. So, men can bring down estrogen level, by including more of fiber rich foods in their diet.

DIM vegetables can be added to the meals:

DIM vegetables denote diindolylmethane vegetables like Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower and broccoli. These vegetables are otherwise called as cruciferous and they can play a major role towards elimination of stored hormones like estrogen from the body. Experts are of the opinion that DIM can differentiate between good and bad estrogen metabolites and so it can carry out bad ones out of the body through wastes.

Stay away from alcohol:

Men with an increase in the estrogen hormone are recommended to stay away from alcohol. This hormone generally metabolizes in the liver and alcohol consumption can affect the functioning of the liver, thereby increasing estrogen levels. So, keeping away from alcohol is important for these men.

Restricting the amount of dairy products from diet:

Men with this issue are also recommended to bring down the level of dairy product consumption from their diet. The reason is that these products can contain estrogen extracted from cows. As against dairy products, men can rely on non-dairy supplements like almond milk.

Plenty of water all through the day:

Men with an increase in the estrogen level are also recommended to consume a lot of water all through the day. Water can play a major role towards balancing the hormone levels and this is why men and women are recommended to consume lot of water and a minimum of 8 glasses of water is important for ensuring the healthy functioning of different organs.
