Tips To Beat The Heat This Summer

As the heat waves continue to take its toll in different parts of the country, it becomes important for Indians to be aware of certain things to keep themselves cool and to stay protected against the raw hands of the Sun. These tips will help them stay cool until the monsoon arrives. Even though, summer is over, the after-effects continue to create a toll and here are the tips to stay cool:

Keep away from dark colors:

As most of us know, darker colors tend to attract more heat to the body and so it is better to get out of your house with light color outfits. This tip will help you in avoiding a lot of sweaty situations.

Wear loose clothes:

Even though, it is true that you should look presentable and you will be interested in your personal style, your health is also important, isn’t? When you wear body-hugging clothing during this hot season, it will open up the door for a wide range of health problems right from skin rashes to even headaches. Even, it can lead to fainting and yeast infection as well. So, wear loose clothing that is made out of cotton material to stay protected.

Soak your feet in cold/ice water:

When you follow this tip, you can also save your electricity bill. Yes, when you do this, in addition to protecting yourself from heat, you can just reduce the hours of air conditioning running at nights. Just before going to bed, take a bucket of ice/cold water and soak your feet for about 15-20 minutes. This coolness will instantly cool your body, by bringing down the body temperature instantly.

Keep hydrated:

When you spend a lot of time outdoor, the body will undergo a lot of water loss during these hot days. So, remember to carry water along, wherever you go and you can also drink milkshakes and fresh juices to keep yourself hydrated.

Refrigerate your bed sheets:

This might seem to be silly. But, sometimes, you might have felt like sticking your head into the fridge during hot days. Just fold your bed sheet and place it in the fridge for about 15-20 minutes before going to bed. To avoid it from catching the smell of foods stored in the refrigerator, you can place the bed sheet by keeping it in a plastic bag.

Avoid alcohol and caffeine:

One of the common things that caffeinated and alcoholic drinks can do is that they can dehydrate you easily. With already hot weather, when your body gets dehydrated, you are sure to catch headache. So, avoid too much consumption of these drinks during summer.

Cross ventilate:

When you stay in a closed room in hot climate, you will feel claustrophobic. If you do not want the air conditioner to run for the entire day, the best thing you can do is to cross ventilate. Just open a window and place a pedestal fan across from the windows. The natural breeze and the air from the fan can create cross breeze.
