Tomato is one of those delicious foods, which provide many properties. But why is it good and why is it important to consume it every day? The tomato many say is a vegetable, but what checked the scientists, the tomato is a "fruit" because it tastes sweet and has the same proteins and vitamins that normal fruit such as apples. They have reds, yellows and even greens colour.

For many years tomatoes have been banned for people suffering from kidney stones because of their oxalic acid content. This substance together with calcium forms insoluble salts (calcium oxalate), which precipitate in the form of stones or stones.

Nevertheless, Its content in oxalic acid is moderate (5.3 mg / 100 g), similar to that of many other foods and less than that of lettuce (17 mg / 100 g), tea (83 mg / 100 g) or spinach ( 779 mg / 100 g).

Therefore, tomato can be considered as a depurative food. Also, it is effective for treating constipation within a high fibre diet. In the case of a delicate stomach, due to its acidity, its consumption may be contraindicated, although it will depend on the tolerance of each person. Some people do not feel well, and this is usually manifested with recurrent mouth ulcers and eczema.
